A Proper Perspective on Arrogance - Psalm 73

"For I was envious of the boastful," - Psalm. 73:3

I have seen this in my own heart as well. I have heard people who boast about what they have or what they have done and found myself envious of them.

Utter foolishness.

I have a God who is all-powerful, all-knowing, and forever loving who knows me and wants to give me Himself so that I can rejoice in Him and have life and joy abundantly forever! I have Him to boast in and I find myself envious of those who boast in themselves when there is nothing that they have that was not given to them.

God forgive me this foolishness and help me to boast in you alone.

"Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I understood their end." - v.17

This is one of the great realizations of life, that we are incapable of understanding certain things unless we are in God's presence and receive perspective and understanding from Him.

This whole passage provides the wisdom to understand the problem of evil, as it is so called in philosophical / apologetics circles. Verses 1 - 16 present the problem: people getting away with evil and God just letting it happen. Verses 17 - 20 provides the insight.
